Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) urged its customers to conduct periodic inspections of internal water connections in their houses, buildings and facilities to discover and fix any potential leaks, and replace old connections, if necessary. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to help customers reduce waste as part of its ‘Let’s Make This Summer Green’ annual campaign. DEWA called on its customers to use its smart services on the website and smart app to monitor water leakage immediately, including the High-Water Usage Alert service and the Smart Living initiative with several smart features that enable self-monitoring of consumption.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, highlighted DEWA’s efforts to enrich the customers experience using the latest disruptive technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. This is part of its strategy to achieve the Dubai 10X initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make the Government of Dubai 10 years ahead of other cities; and the Smart Dubai initiative to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. DEWA strives to provide electricity and water supplies according to the highest reliability, availability, efficiency, and sustainability standards. It is committed to enrich the customer experience and achieve their happiness. This is through innovative and smart services for customers to monitor their consumption, make smart and sustainable decisions, in addition to following a responsible lifestyle.
Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA, said that DEWA enables customers to increase the efficiency of their electricity and water consumption. It engages them in efforts to protect natural resources and make Dubai the most sustainable city, through conservation and reduction of carbon emissions.
DEWA highlighted the competence of its systems to discover any leakage in external connections. DEWA is responsible for connections and maintenance up to the meter, while the customer is responsible for internal connections after the meter. This applies to the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. DEWA’s High-Water Usage Alert is the best way to discover water leakages as it sends notifications to customers of any high water usage that could indicate possible internal water leakage. This helps them to follow up on required maintenance and make Dubai greener. Leakages can also be discovered through DEWA’s bills or smart meters.
