DEWA launches innovative services and awareness competitions during GITEX 2020

Under the theme ‘Inspiring the Next Generation of Breakthroughs,’ Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is presenting a range of pioneering projects at the 40th GITEX Technology Week, that aim to reshape the future of services and the experiences of stakeholders. The GITEX will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 6-10 December 2020. DEWA will also present, via its stand S2-D1 at Sheikh Saeed Hall, its most prominent projects, initiatives, innovative and smart services, robots, as well as digital transformation, automation, and cloud computing projects.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, highlighted DEWA’s efforts to use the GITEX Technology Week to introduce its latest innovations and advanced services that keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and disruptive technologies. These include Artificial Intelligence (AI); Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs); Blockchain; Internet of Things (IoT) and others. This contributes to enhancing DEWA’s competitiveness and achieves its vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation.

“DEWA has become one of the most innovative utilities worldwide. Through Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA, we are disrupting the entire business of public utilities by becoming the world’s first digital utility to use autonomous systems for renewable energy and storage, while expanding the use of digital services. This achieves the Dubai 10X 2.0 initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a city of the future, putting it 10 years ahead of other global cities. DEWA and its subsidiaries are committed to achieve the wise leadership vision and directives to shape the UAE’s future during the next 50 years and make it the best country in the world by its centennial in 2071,” said Al Tayer.

DEWA will launch during the GITEX the Universal Service Centre concept, which is a pioneering step in reshaping the future of services. It will provide a full digital experience that provides comprehensive, reliable and secure services to customers. The centre will use the latest AI technologies and interactive digital solutions that will enable customers to communicate remotely with representatives from departments such as Finance, Human Resources, Contracts, Procurement, and Legal Affairs.

DEWA will also display a group of its services that use robots and AI. These include Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to enhance GIS operational performance; wearable robotic exoskeletons to increase efficiency and accuracy and protect the health and safety of staff; four-legged Spot Robots for internal operations. DEWA will display its virtual employee Rammas at Work to serve DEWA’s executive management. Rammas is available for customers on DEWA’s website, smart app, Facebook page, Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant, robots, and WhatsApp Business.
