Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has received the Gold Award by International Business Excellence Award (IBXA-2020) in the Wellbeing & Health category. This adds to DEWA’s record of achievements. The Award was given for the Estisharati Programme which provides individual and group counselling, and providing practical ways to solve employee problems.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed his pride at DEWA winning this award, highlighting the organisations’ efforts to provide a positive and motivating work environment that enhances the efficiency and loyalty of employees. “DEWA’s vision is guided by the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who said ‘An efficient team would ideally be built on mutual trust, commitment, close cooperation, good communication and clearly set goals. Team members should be respected, appreciated, encouraged, motivated and enjoy shared responsibilities.’ We are committed to providing all necessities to support our staff, who are the backbone of our business and success. DEWA has a set of programmes tailored to their needs and happiness. Those programmes support them in their career and personal lives. DEWA takes responsibility and prioritises its staff in its community work,” added Al Tayer.
Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, noted that the award is a result of the HR division adopting best international practices in motivating staff, unleashing their potential and helping them overcome the practical, personal, and social difficulties of life. This mitigates their stress levels to improve their performance and productivity at the workplace. It also maintains the journey of excellence, development, constant improvement, and DEWA’s globally-leading position.
In recognition of its support to human resources, in 2019, DEWA also won the Great Place to Work Certificate.® The American Great Place to Work® institute gives the certificate in collaboration with Fortune magazine to organisations for their excellence in providing the best working environment. DEWA also came first in the Happiness Index in the large Dubai government entities category, for the second consecutive year with a 95% happiness level, according to Smart Dubai’s Happiness Index that monitors happiness levels among the people of Dubai.
