Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received the 100% Paperless Stamp from Smart Dubai, in recognition of its success in completing the digital transformation of all its operations and services by 100%. This new achievement underlines its excellence in smart adoption and making Dubai the favourite place to live, work and visit.
DEWA received the Stamp during a visit by a delegation from Smart Dubai to DEWA’s head office. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA received the delegation, which included Younus Al Nasser, Assistant Director-General of Smart Dubai and CEO of Dubai Data Establishment; and Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai.
Al Tayer expressed his happiness and pride at this new success which adds to DEWA’s track record of excellence and leadership. This achievement results from DEWA’s efforts to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the city of the future. This also achieves the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to transform the Government of Dubai into a fully digital government and build an integrated, paperless government framework. This is part of the Dubai Paperless Strategy, launched by His Highness, to stop using paper in all internal and external transactions with customers by December 2021.
“DEWA’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and its commitment to keep pace with the latest technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution enabled it to speed up the automation of all transactions for its customers and employees. DEWA provides all its services through several smart and digital channels to help customers complete their transactions; anytime, anywhere. This saves them time and effort, protects the environment, and preserves natural resources. DEWA has completed its electronic integration with some 30 entities to further reduce customers’ time and effort. The smart adoption of DEWA’s services was 97.49% in 2020. Among the initiatives that helped us go completely paperless were DEWA’s smart app, the Cashless Initiative, the elimination of printers, and the Smart Office app with Smart Documents for DEWA employees. They have made a significant shift in service delivery by enabling DEWA’s employees to work from a distance. These initiatives have contributed to seamless business continuity, and helped us provide our services according to the highest standards of availability, reliability, and efficiency for staff working from a distance due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” added Al Tayer.
“While we are proud of DEWA’s achievements, I commend the efforts of Smart Dubai and its collaboration with all government organisations in Dubai to achieve the objectives of the Dubai Paperless Strategy. We promise our wise leadership to continue innovating unique experiences that increase the happiness of all our stakeholders and contribute to Dubai’s progress in leading the future. We will do this by reworking the traditional concepts of work mechanisms to suit the rapid changes the world is going through. We will strengthen Dubai’s position as an incubator for creativity and as a beacon of innovation. We also pledge to make 2021, the Golden Jubilee of the UAE’s Foundation, a starting point for more progress, growth, and prosperity, to achieve the vision of our wise leadership to make the UAE the world’s leading nation by its Centennial in 2071,” concluded Al Tayer.
