Dubai World Cup

March 30, 2018 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president and prime minister of the U.A.E. and the ruler of Dubai, shared his ‘Dubai World Cup’ poem on Twitter today as the world’s richest day of racing will take place on Saturday, 31st March 2018, at Meydan Racecourse in the UAE, for a prize money of $10 million. The Dubai World Cup 2018 will once again attract some of the most talented runners from around the world. This year the after-race musical entertainment will not be held at Meydan, however, ticketed race goers will receive free admission to Soho Garden and White Dubai, which will feature performances by DJ Kaz James and Flo Rida.

Although the World Cup began in 1996, thoroughbred racing started in Dubai in 1981 with a humble setup and the high quality horses quickly made the Dubai World Cup a staple on the international horse racing calendar. The Dubai Racing Club was formed in 1992 with the first home of the World Cup, Nad Al Sheba Racecourse opened in March that year.
